Card-edge connectors offer reliable spring contacts
Kyocera AVX has released the 9159-7X0 series of double-ended linear card-edge connectors with beryllium copper spring contacts. Rated at up to 2 A per contact, the robust spring contact system provides solder-free mating, high electrical and mechanical reliability, and rugged durability in harsh environments. The connectors can be used for linear PCB mating in industrial, LED lighting, automotive lighting, and transportation lighting applications.
Connectors are available in five contact variations, with 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 positions. The series offers open-side and closed-side configurations with high-temperature white or black UL94 V-0 insulators and gold or tin over nickel contact plating. Devices with gold-plated contacts withstand up to 1000 mating cycles without corroding or degrading.
The 9159-7X0 devices mate with PCBs that are 1.5-mm thick (±0.15 mm) and have gold-plated or tin-plated pads. Connectors have a voltage rating of 150 VACRMS or the DC equivalent.
The 9159-7X0 series of double-ended linear card-edge connectors are shipped in bulk in quantities of 1000 units per bag. Connectors can be purchased from DigiKey, Mouser, and Farnell.
