Ethernet PHYs offer flexible speed options

Single-port Ethernet transceivers from MaxLinear, the MxL86110 and MxL86111, operate at speeds of up to 1 Gbps to meet both consumer and industrial needs. The copper PHYs can be used in such applications as gateways, routers, industrial PCs, media converters, and SGMII to RGMII bridges.

To adapt to different network environments, the devices provide a selection of Ethernet speeds and interfaces. Speeds include 10Base-Te, 100Base-TX, and 1000Base-T over twisted pair interfaces. The parts also support both half-duplex and full-duplex modes for 10Base-Te and 100Base-TX, as well as full-duplex mode for 1000Base-T. MAC interface options include RGMII only (MxL86110) and RGMII or SGMII (MxL86111).

Compact packages—5×5-mm QFN40 for the MxL86110 and 6×6-mm QFN56 for the MxL86111—allow for lower power consumption and efficient design integration. Green power features like Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), Wake on LAN, and no-link detection reduce power consumption during idle times. The devices can be operated from a single 3.3-V power supply using the integrated DC/DC converter.

Available immediately, both the MxL86110 and MxL86111 PHYs come in commercial (C) and industrial (I) variants, with respective operating temperature ranges of 0°C to +70°C and -40°C to +85°C.
