Wi-Fi 7 chips target mainstream devices

MediaTek’s Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 connectivity chips deliver Wi-Fi 7 speeds and always-on reliability for mainstream routers and clients. The Filogic 860 provides a physical layer rate of up to 7.2 Gbps (BE7200) for routers and gateways, while the Filogic 360 furnishes a maximum throughput rate of 2.9 Gbps for client devices like smartphones and computers.

For enterprise and retail markets, the Filogic 860 offers a dual-band Wi-Fi 7 access point, router, and mesh node solution. It employs a triple-core Arm Cortex-A73 CPU and network processing unit that supports hardware acceleration for tunneling and security features. Filogic 860 includes a 4×4 2.4-GHz antenna array, plus a 5×5 5/6-GHz antenna. Additionally, the device provides Ethernet, PCIe 3.0, and USB 3.0 interfaces.

The Filogic 360 combo chip integrates triband (2.4-GHz, 5-GHz, 6-GHz) Wi-Fi 7 and dual Bluetooth 5.4 radios for client applications, including edge devices, streaming devices, and other consumer electronics. It integrates a 2×2 triple-band antenna, along with a PCIe 2.1 or USB 3.0 interface. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth coexistence technology ensures that both can operate on the 2.4-GHz band seamlessly and without interference.

The Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 are sampling now. Mass production is anticipated for mid-2024.
