ESD diodes raise surge ratings to 540 W

Vishay’s single-line VGSOTxx and two-line VGSOTxxC ESD protection diodes offer reverse working voltages from 3.3 V to 36 V. Compared to earlier GSOTxx/xxC devices, the automotive-grade diodes provide improved heat dissipation, supporting higher peak pulse power ratings up to 540 W and current ratings up to 44 A for an 8/20-µs pulse.

Both series come in SOT-23 packages and serve as drop-in replacements for GSOT devices, providing unidirectional ESD protection. The VGSOTxxC series employs a dual common-anode configuration that also enables bidirectional protection. Its dual diodes can be paralleled to double surge power ratings, line capacitance, and reverse leakage current.
The RoHS-compliant devices deliver ESD immunity per IEC 61000-4-2 and ISO 10605 at ±30 kV air and contact discharge, and meet AEC-Q101 HBM class H3B at >8 kV. Their high power and current handling make them well-suited for automotive, industrial, consumer, communications, medical, and military applications.
Samples and production quantities of the ESD protection diodes are available now, with lead times of 12 weeks.
