Automotive SMD packs rectifier and TVS

A two-in-one surface-mount device, the R3T2FPHM3 from Vishay combines a rectifier and transient voltage suppressor (TVS) in a FlatPAK 5×6-mm package. The dual-chip device, which features an oxide planar chip junction and common cathode circuit configuration, saves PCB space and simplifies layouts.

With its 3-A, 600-V standard rectifier, 200-W TRANSZORB TVS, and wide operating temperature range of -55°C to +175°C, the R3T2FPHM3 is well-suited for automotive applications. It can be used for secondary protection of sensor units, distributed airbag modules, and low-power DC/DC converters in power distribution systems. When paired in series with a standard TVS, the R3T2FPHM3 offers a complete >24-V solution with a low clamping ratio.

The R3T2FPHM3’s rectifier has a low forward voltage drop of 0.86 V to reduce power losses and improve efficiency. Its TVS offers a breakdown voltage of 27 V. ESD protection complies with IEC 61000-4-2 standards in both air discharge mode and contact mode. The part also provides a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 1 per J-STD-020 requirements and a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating. Additionally, Vishay offers the device in AEC- Q101 qualified versions.

Samples and production quantities of the R3T2FPHM3 are available now, with lead times of 12 weeks.
