PCIe 4.0 SSD controller bolsters automotive storage

Silicon Motion’s SM2264XT-AT is a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD controller targeting automotive central computing and ADAS/autonomous architectures. Equipped with a quad-core Arm R8 CPU, the controller provides four lanes of 16-Gbps PCIe data flow per lane. It also furnishes eight NAND flash channels with transfer speeds of up to 1600 MT/s per channel.

The SM2264XT-AT boasts built-in single root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV) supporting up to eight virtual machines (VMs). SR-IOV offers multiple namespaces, capacity management, shared namespace, and reservation features. With dedicated virtual functions (VFs) for each VM, multiple VMs can access the SSD with low latency. This virtualization architecture optimizes the usage of SSD resources and reduces both software complexity and CPU power consumption.

The SM2264XT-AT adheres to various automotive processes and certifications. These include AEC-Q100 compliance, ISO 26262 ASIL B functional safety standards, ISO 21434 certification for cybersecurity, ASPICE compliance for software development, and IATF 16949 certification for supplier chain compliance.
