Toshiba optimizes intelligent power devices
Two 600-V intelligent power devices (IPDs), the TPD4163K and TPD4164K from Toshiba, provide output current (DC) ratings of 1 A and 2 A, respectively. Both parts are offered in a through-hole HDIP30 package that decreases mounting area by approximately 21% compared to Toshiba’s DIP26-packaged end-of-life products. The smaller package also helps reduce the size of brushless DC motor drive circuit boards.
In addition to the smaller package, the TPD4163K and TPD4164K have a higher power supply voltage of 600 VBB, increased from the previous devices’ 500-V rating. As voltage may fluctuate in regions with unstable power supply, the 600-V rating of the TPD4163K and TPD4164K presents a wider operating margin and improves reliability.
The compact IPDs can be used for brushless DC motor drive applications, such as air conditioners, air cleaners, ventilation fans, and pumps. Toshiba has begun volume shipments of the TPD4163K and TPD4164K IPDs. To check availability and purchase these devices, use the product page links below.
