Storage accelerator board handles 200 Gbps

Panther III from MaxLinear is an OCP 3.0 form factor storage accelerator that delivers a throughput of 200 Gbps, scalable to 3.2 Tbps when cascaded. Panther’s 12:1 data reduction intelligently offloads the CPU by providing multiple independent parallel DPU transform engines.

Aimed at hyperscale data centers, telecommunications infrastructure, and public-to-edge clouds, Panther III allows users to access, process, and transfer data up to 12 times faster than without a storage accelerator. Advanced encryption capabilities eliminate the need for self-encrypting drives and remove the cost of and need for security routers. The board also provides independent hash block size and programmable offset, enhancing deduplication hit rates and improving effective storage capacity.

A software development kit (SDK) for the Panther III contains API, drivers, and source code for incorporation with end-application software and software-defined storage. The kit is focused on CPU offloading, reduced overhead for lowest latency, and full-feature failover for highest system reliability and zero down time.

The OCP 3.0 version of the Panther III adapter card is available immediately. A PCIe version will be available in Q3 2023.
