PCIe 5.0 SSDs store up to 30 terabytes

Architected for server and cloud applications, Kioxia CD8P SSDs offer storage capacities ranging from 1.92 TB to 30.72 TB in EDSFF E3.S and 2.5-in. (U.2) form factors. These read-intensive NVMe solid-state drives leverage a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface to deliver a transfer rate of 32 gigatransfers/s.

Kioxia reports that the CD8P series improves sequential read performance, with an increase of approximately 60% to 80% compared to previous-generation PCIe 4.0 SSDs. This includes random read performance of up to 2000K IOPS and random write performance of up to 400K IOPS (4KiB block size, 4KiB aligned, 100% random).

CD8P series drives employ Kioxia BiCS triple-level cell flash memory and use an in-house developed controller. In addition to PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0 specifications, they are compliant with the NVMe Management Interface V1.1d and support the Open Compute Project (OCP) Datacenter NVMe SSD specification (not all requirements).

CD8P series solid-state drives are now sampling to select customers.
