R&S enhances automotive radar test system
Options for the R&S AREG800A automotive radar echo generator enable realistic autonomous braking tests at short distances from dynamic artificial objects. The system is well-suited for radar object simulation, from single sensor tests to 360° environments, covering 76 GHz to 81 GHz for automotive radar sensors. Its scalability and adaptability allow a wide range of ADAS traffic scenarios to be electronically generated during the entire testing life cycle.
The test setup teams the AREG800A generator as a back end and the QAT100 antenna array as a front end. Alternatively, the AREG800A can be configured with remote mmWave front ends. To improve distance resolution, AREG8-81S/D mmWave front ends now extend the instantaneous bandwidth from 4 GHz to 5 GHz. In addition, a new feature for near object range allows minimum distance of one or more artificial objects to be reduced down to the airgap value of the radar under test.
For the QAT100 antenna array, R&S now offers an enhanced flatness option, which provides a detailed characterization of each antenna in the array. This improves the amplitude flatness of all antennas when operated with the AREG800A radar echo generator.
With the R&S radar test platform, tests currently performed in real-world test drives can now be executed in the lab. For more information, use the product page links below.
