Blue screen of deterioration

The song “Love Is Blue” has been recorded by many artists. One version I really like is by Marty Robbins and can be watched here while an instrumental version by Paul Mauriat can be watched here  but the issue below takes the concept of blue, but a blue not to love, to a different level.

We recently bought a new OLED television, and it works quite well, at least so far. It gets a little disturbing though when I see some television screens outside of the home, many of which have taken on a bluish cast like these three shown below.

Admittedly these television screens are operated almost ceaselessly, especially the two that run 24/7 in diners that stay open all night. Our screen at home is only used for a relatively short time each evening and so far, it shows no deterioration.

However, it is pretty clear (sorry for the pun) that there is some mechanism of screen deterioration going on that can take effect over the long haul.

Comments?
