Resettable fuses save space in 1206 packages
Bourns has added 20 new devices to it MF-NSMF series of Multifuse polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) resettable fuses in 1206 size packages. By combining higher power ratings in a smaller footprint, these surface-mount devices give designers more options for overcurrent and overtemperature protection, while conserving board space. For example, fuse models in the 1206 size package achieve a 67% reduction in space compared to the company’s fuses in 1812 size packages.
MF-NSMF resettable fuses leverage Bourns’ freeXpansion technology, which enables the fuse to handle higher currents and voltages, improves its resistance stability, and allows for a smaller footprint. The components provide a broad range of hold current options, extending from 0.05 A to 2.0 A, and voltage ratings, ranging from 6 VDC to 60 VDC.
Devices in the MF-NSMF series deliver reliable overcurrent and overtemperature protection for low DC voltage ports commonly found in USB, HDMI, HDTV, PCs, laptops, data centers, and portable consumer electronics.
The MF-NSMF PPTC resettable fuses are available now.
