Automotive Hall ICs provide dual outputs

Hall-effect sensors in the AH39xxQ series from Diodes provide accurate speed and directional data or two independent outputs. Targeting automotive applications, the parts are AEC-Q100 Grade 0 qualified and support PAPP documentation. Self-diagnostic features also make the Hall ICs suitable for ISO 26262-compliant systems.

In line with automotive battery requirements, the devices operate over a wide supply voltage range of 2.7 V to 27 V. They have a 40-V absolute maximum rating, enabling them to safely handle 40-V load dumps. Three operating-point and release-point (BOP/BRP) options are offered, with typical values of 10/-10 gauss, 25/-25 gauss, and 75/-75 gauss. A narrow operating window ensures accurate and reliable switching points.

Dual-channel operation allows one Hall IC to replace two latch switches, saving PCB space and overall component costs. In addition, a chopper stabilized design minimizes switch point drift and ensures accurate measurements over a broad temperature range.

Hall sensors in the AH396xQ series cost $0.40 each in lots of 1000 units. Hall sensors with self-diagnostics in the AH397xQ series cost $0.44 each in like quantities. All of the devices come in TSOT25 packages.
