Partnership elevates video doorbell security

Omnivision and iCatch Technology are working together to bring enhanced color pre-roll and edge AI processing to wireless home security products. With pre-roll enabled, users can save up to 4 seconds of video footage prior to the camera’s motion detector triggering.

The collaboration pairs Omnivision’s OA7600 always-on video coprocessor with built-in pre-roll recording buffer and iCatch Technology’s Vi57 AI imaging SoC. This integrated chipset provides video doorbells with continuous storage of pre-event footage, as well as traceability and visibility during any triggering event.

The iCatch Vi57 imaging SoC offers fast capture and edge AI capability to improve the general usability of video doorbells. Taking the pre-roll footage from Omnivision’s OA7600 coprocessor, the Vi57 seamlessly combines it with post-event footage into one video with minimal data loss. It also provides high-quality color video, even under extreme low-light conditions.
