wheelchair, whilst the University of Hertfordshire
promoted the ‘Robot House’, a four-bedroomed
house close to the College Lane campus in
Hatfield in which the ground floor has been
adapted into a unique research facility for
human-robot interaction. This is equipped with
the latest generation of robotics platforms,
including state-of-the-art care robots for
assisted living.
Primary Engineer
Exhibitor Primary Engineer is an educational
not-for-profit organisation founded in 2005
which aims to engage primary and secondary
school pupils and teachers from across
the country with the inspirational world of
engineering and technology.
Primary Engineer training programmes for
primary school teachers are complemented by
the annual Leaders Award Competition in which
primary and secondary school pupils interview
engineering and technology professionals,
identify a problem, and design an innovative
solution.
Tens of thousands of pupils take part each
year, all recognised with a certificate graded
by engineering and technology professionals.
These pupils are celebrated at regional awards
events and exhibitions, with designs being
selected to be developed into prototypes by
university and industry partners.
