Automotive power switch shrinks footprint

A compact intelligent power device (IPD) from Renesas safely controls power distribution in vehicle electrical/electronic (E/E) architectures. The RAJ2810024H12HPD comes in a small TO-252-7 package, reducing mounting area by about 40% compared to conventional TO-263 packages.

The single-channel high-side IPD provides accurate detection of abnormal currents, such as overcurrent. Improved current-sense ratio, even at low loads, allows engineers to design safe and precise power control systems. The RAJ2810024H12HPD has an on-resistance of 2.3 mΩ typical at +25°C (4.8 mΩ maximum at +150°C) and a 3.3-V/5-V logic interface. Other features include a built-in charge pump, diagnostic feedback with proportional load current sense, and multiple embedded protection functions.

As the automotive industry moves toward centralized or zone-oriented E/E architectures, IPDs are becoming an ideal choice for building efficient and flexible power supply networks since they use shorter, thinner wires. According to Renesas, the RAJ2810024H12HPD provides a more efficient, safer, and smaller solution for power distribution control.

Samples of the AEC-Q100 qualified RAJ2810024H12HPD IPD are available now, with mass production planned for Q1 2024. A datasheet for the RAJ2810024H12HPD was not available at the time of this announcement. For more information, click here.
