LoRa wireless module strengthens asset management
A LPWAN wireless module from Murata packs Semtech’s LR1110 LoRa transceiver, along with multiple electronic components, into a small metal-shielded package. The level of integration achieved in the 9.98×8.7-mm module allows for faster time to market for such applications as asset location, traceability, loss and theft prevention, and inventory management.
Along with the LoRa Edge LR1110 transceiver, RF components, and switch, the module provides slow and fast clocks for operating the LR1110 chip and a low-noise amplifier for optimal Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) performance. It is powered from a 1.8-V to 3.6-V supply and operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
Semtech’s LR1110 delivers long-distance coverage over a range of 860 MHz to 930 MHz, a 22-dBm high-power transmit path, a 15-dBm high-efficiency transmit path, and best-in-class receiver sensitivity. In addition to LoRa, transmission modulation options include Long Range-Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (LR-FHSS) and Gaussian Frequency-Shift Keying (GFSK). The device offers both GNSS (GPS/BeiDou) low-power scanning and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi ultralow-power passive scanning for geolocation purposes.
A datasheet for Murata’s LoRa module was not available at the time of this announcement. Early-stage samples and evaluation kits will be available in the second quarter of 2023.
