Home networking chips unleash Wi-Fi 7 connectivity

Qualcomm’s Wi-Fi 7 Immersive Home Platform for hyperconnected homes achieves total system capacity of more than 20 Gbps. The platform also features the company’s Multi-Link Mesh networking technology, which optimizes traffic flows to dynamically adapt to network conditions, client capabilities, and home topology.

Powered by a quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 CPU, the Immersive Home 3210 is a triband Wi-Fi 7 networking device supporting 10 spatial streams, while the Immersive Home 326 supports 6 spatial streams. Both devices enable simultaneous operation in the 2.4-GHz, 5-GHz and 6-GHz spectrum bands. Multi-Link Mesh enables deterministic low latency for virtually lag-free gaming experiences with up to a 75% reduction in real-time latency in congested environments.

Other features of the Immersive Home Wi-Fi 7 devices include expanded 5-GHz spectrum performance, with 240-MHz channels and 4K QAM modulation that delivers 80% higher capacity compared to Wi-Fi 6. Performance in the 6-GHz spectrum is also maximized, with 320-MHz channels and 4K QAM modulation that achieves 140% higher capacity than Wi-Fi 6E.

The Immersive Home 3210 and Immersive Home 326 are sampling now to manufacturers of home routers and mesh Wi-Fi systems. Commercial availability is expected in the second half of 2023.
